Free and Fun Cardio at Home

A gym membership can be expensive. Jogging through town can be difficult to plan around weather. Exercise equipment takes up a ton of space. Luckily, there are many things you can do to get your recommended hour-a-day of exercise, including cardio! Cardio is especially important in any fitness routine because it burns calories, lessens stress, reduces the risk of disease and betters the health of our heart and lungs. Here are some cardio exercises you can do in the comfort of your own home without spending a dime.

Jumping Jacks – They seem simple but they can very quickly increase your heart rate to the preferred levels. Start by doing sets of 20 and increase as you can. 

Jump rope – Even if you don’t own a jump rope, you can simply pretend. Go through the jumping rope motions starting out at a steady pace and occasionally going into hard-core jumping mode for several seconds at a time.

Jog in place – Stand in front of your television and jog in place instead of parking on the couch for your favorite made for TV movieBonus: You don’t have to dodge puddles or evade angry dogs.

Dance- Plug in your headphones and dance like no one is watching. Remember to move fast enough that your heart rate is increased and your breath is just at the level where you can still carry on a conversation.
