There is a misconception that if you lift light weights, you will tone up without bulking. In fact, if you lift weights that are too light for you, you really aren’t doing much of anything. To progress, you have to lift weights that are a little heavy for you, the last few reps should be a struggle. Lifting too heavy, however, can cause you to injure yourself or can push your muscles past a comfortable point and force you to take time off from strength training.
